I have spent the past 3 or 4 years looking at reinventing and approaching my work from new directions. Like many artists I have gone through a period of burnout and subsequent reappraisal of my life style and practice. As part of that I have undertaken travels and residencies in 2008 in Canada and 2010 in Jingdezhen China. This was to allow me to experiment and play, as I have done in a series of collaborative works with three Canadian artists Trudy Golley Grace Nickel and Paul Leathers. These have given me inspiration for new bodies of work which will be developed over the coming years. Thematically I am focusing on surface decoration and shapes derived from organic forms particularly the structures of plants and trees, exploring both their ecological fragilities and adaptive strengths. There are still elements of light play, within, through and from the objects exploring translucency, illumination and reflection. I have practiced as a full time ceramic Artist since 1975 and have had 31 solo shows and participated in over 250 group shows. My work is held in the collections of major Regional and state galleries and corporations throughout Australia along with collections in the UK, USA, Japan, Canada, Netherlands and New Zealand..
