Votive Bird Forms and Shrines
Saturday, 31 August 2024
St John's Church, Pinjarra
George Street & Henry Street, Pinjarra WA, Australia
Patricia Hines pays homage to Australian native birds in this exhibition of three dimensional ceramics and mixed media works.
Displayed in the recently-renovated, heritage-listed Saint John’s Church in Pinjarra, this exhibition is a meditation on the fragility of native birds and their habitats. Using sculptural and representational images, this exhibition explores both the humour and joy brought forth by interactions with these creatures.
Hines’ works include flocks of wings, which are an encounter with the memory of birds, as well as decorative and votive works, using embossed images taken from tombstones from Saint John’s Church graveyard.
This event is part of IOTA: South Metro & Peel Connections.
Wed – Sun: 10am – 4pm
Closed: Mon & Tue
