Jackie Masters

It is the incredible Australian landscape and its enchanting colours that provide infinite inspiration for my glazes, which enhance the quiet, hand-thrown forms on which they sit.

Driving down a dirt road with the red dust billowing, standing at the foot of a giant Karrie tree in a damp forest, or feeling the sea breeze on your skin as it skips across the blue ocean; are all elements of Australia that I try to capture in my work. The use of textured volcanic/lava glazes helps to tell the story of our rugged terrain, of limestone outcrops and of rough bushland.

Australian raw earth and oxides are incorporated into both clay and glazes, capturing not only the spirit of the land, but the true essence of Australia; each piece a unique work of art.
