Pit firing workshop in the hills!
Service Description
This workshop runs over two consecutive days. Participants are to bring along their burnished and bisqued pots which they will then decorate to create stunning smoke effects and colourful markings. It will be hands on helping to pack the pit, and begin the firing process. Soup and snacks will be served as the firing proceeds. On Sunday participants will help unpack their pots from the kiln and share their process and results. Saturday, September 14 from 3pm to 8pm Sunday, September 15 from 3 to 5pm. WHAT TO BRING: Up to 5 pots (max size 20cm x 20cm) Stoneware or Raku clay. Pots will need to be burnished and/or terra sigillataed and bisqued to 900˚c A bag of firewood and if you like, other combustible material such as straw, dry coffee grounds, seaweed, copper wire etc. A notebook, camera (phone) and drinks. Please wear sturdy shoes and old clothes and bring gloves.
